Summer Reading is over... :-(
I really found that seeing all the kids in our library is a lot of fun! They were so excited about summer reading that I wish I could read! There were prizes, games, activities and just lots of fun to be had! I can't wait for next year when it's all about water!

To read or not to read that is the question....
Seeing Summer Reading starts here at the library next week I often ponder the title of this post....to read or not to read. Why do some people watch the movie rather than reading the book? I have found that the book is sooooo much better than a movie ever could be. The drescriptiveness, the real story, the intensity is real and there when you read the book. If you watch the movie, you lose the author's purpose for writing the story as the movie makers are out to sell the movie and add or delete things to keep it interesting and entertaining to the viewers. Basically, they add the drama that some authors just don't have in their novels. I always read the book and sometimes will watch the movie after, but I still have a thing about television seeing Geico has dramatized one of my relatives....the gecko.
Hope to see you all next week to sign up for the Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative at our Library" with me!!!!

Budget Vote
The library would like to remind all patrons that Tuesday May 19 is the 2010 library budget vote. The vote will take place at Edward R. Andrews Elementary School between the hours of 6 am and 9 pm. It is very important that the budget pass, so that the library can continue to provide excellent services.
About seventy-five percent of the taxpayers will experience an average increase of $12 per year. If you break it down, this increase works out to be 23¢ per week or 3¢ per day. It is a very small price to pay for such a wonderful library.
The benefits of passing the 2010 budget are numerous. First, the library will purchase more books and DVD’s. Second, the library will offer more computers with high speed Internet access for public use. Third, the library will increase library hours to 50 hours per week. Fourth, the library will provide more educational programs for children and adults. Lastly, the library will improve building facilities through restoration and repair.
If you would like to learn more about the budget you may visit our website or stop in during library hours. Please vote yes for your library on Tuesday May 19!

Please make sure to check out plenty of books, etc to keep you busy and don't worry about me. The Library Manager will come over every day and check on me and make sure I have water and such.
